Physiotherapy, Myotherapy or Remedial Massage: Which is right for me?
Physiotherapy, Myotherapy and Remedial Massage are different forms of treatment, each with their own scope and techniques. They can all help to overcome injury, alleviate pain, recover from sports training, rehabilitate from surgery, and enhance your overall physical function.
We understand that choosing between these treatments can be a challenge, so we’re here to help! Read on to learn more about each service, and where they fit into a treatment plan.
Physiotherapy focuses on the diagnosis of an injury or condition, and the creation and delivery of a tailored treatment plan to aid in recovery. Physiotherapists use a range of techniques to achieve this, including education, manual therapy and exercise therapy.
Physiotherapy is a great choice if you have an acute or chronic injury, need a diagnosis, require manual therapy or an exercise plan to recover from your injury and prevent recurrence.
Myotherapy & Remedial Massage
Myotherapy and Remedial Massage are forms of manual therapy that use a variety of treatment techniques such as soft and deep tissue massage, sports massage, trigger point therapy, and dry needling to relieve pain and tension in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Both of these services can also provide pre and post natal massage therapy to assist in the care required through pregnancy.
A session with a Myotherapist or Remedial Massage therapist will include an assessment of your movement, in addition to thorough manual therapy, and advice on stretching and strengthening exercises to help you manage your injury or condition.
Deciding which service is best for you may be based on the condition or injury you have. Here at Flex, our Physiotherapists and Myotherapist work together closely to provide our clients with comprehensive care and continue patient care beyond an acute injury.
