Kathryn Anderson

Physiotherapist
Clinical Pilates Practitioner

Kathryn Anderson

Lover of yoga and the outdoors

I started Viva Physiotherapy which was based in Flinders Lane from 2009 to 2024 with the goal of creating a clinic that was deliberately focused on finding both the source and underlying cause of every client’s pain and creating a space where all appointment time was spent 1:1 with each client which wasn’t the industry standard at the time. Viva grew into a clinic with 5 practitioners and over 30 Pilates, clinical, yoga, strength and pregnancy classes over many years. I first met Naomi Fyffe, Flex Owner when Naomi reached out in 2020 to see how I was travelling with the clinic over the lockdowns. This quickly turned into mutual admiration and support spanning many years before our clinic merger in April 2024.

I love the combination of body education and movement that goes into helping people to feel well. I have always enjoyed helping people with back and neck pain, and have developed a special interest in chronic pain and headaches.

I have accumulated more than 20 years of clinical experience in my time as a Physiotherapist, and spent 20 years as a lecturer for the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (including 10 years as a Master Trainer). In addition to my clinical role at Flex, I also teach on the Doctor of Physiotherapy course at the University of Melbourne.

Additionally, I am qualified in Clinical Pilates and Therapeutic Yoga and, in addition to my Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree, I have a Masters of Physiotherapy Practice in Manual Therapy. I love to incorporate Pilates, Yoga and functional retraining in my treatment, to complement the manual and clinical rehabilitation aspects of Physiotherapy.

On the weekends, you’ll find me on the side of the netball court with my two daughters and spending time outdoors. I enjoy cycling to work, running, practising yoga and strength training.
