Bernice Ho
Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Practitioner
Yogi, reader, movement enthusiast.
Born in Singapore, Physiotherapy is my dream job, even if I didn’t know it from the start. At first, I pursued it because it was logical – I love science and wanted a career that felt meaningful and dynamic.
Now, I absolutely love it.
The best part of the job is how rewarding it is. I love working with people: connecting with them, understanding their stories and helping them get back to the activities they love and living their best possible lives. But the nerdy bit – observing people’s movements, breaking them down, relating them back to injuries and treating to correct those dysfunctions and reduce the risk of further injuries – that’s the really fun part.
I enjoy treating back pain and sports/running injuries, as I can particularly empathise with the struggles of the rehabilitation journey. I discovered my love for movement through Yoga and Pilates, but with a mind ahead of my body, my keenness resulted in injuries. I found out the hard way that to do amazing things, we first have to prep our bodies right. From this grew a passion for helping others progress through their own rehab and personal fitness journeys, in a safe and rewarding manner.
Before I became a full-time Physiotherapist, I completed my Yoga Teacher Training certification and taught Yoga in studios. I have found that the incredible synergy between yoga, Pilates, and Physiotherapy not only improves one’s performance on the mat in a safe manner, but also has amazing flow-on benefits enhancing day-to-day life. This inspired me to further complete my training in APPI’s Clinical Matwork Pilates, to help people with injuries find safe and healing movements. I also spent time as a Sports Trainer with Parkside Amateur Football Club, which allowed me to further develop my skills in preventing and managing sports injuries.
Outside of the clinic, I love to read and enjoy exploring the different ways of moving – from tennis to hikes to bouldering, on top of my ‘home ground’ of Yoga and Pilates.
